Our Purpose
Our purpose is
to discover and exalt the Triune God in our worship, to equip believers to
discover their gifts and bring the gospel to the world, to evangelize
unbelievers to discover and come to a saving relationship with Christ, and to
encourage believers as they discover a growing intimate relationship with the
Lord.
“Then you will
discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God.” Proverbs 2:5
Exalting the Triune God as we discover Him in worship
“. . . to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, be
glory, majesty, dominion and authority…now and forever. Amen.” Jude 25
Equipping believers to discover their gifts in bringing the gospel to
the world
“Now the God of peace . . . equip you in every good thing to do His will,
working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ.”
Hebrews 13:20-21
Evangelizing unbelievers to discover and come to a saving relationship
with Christ
“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus
Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3
Encouraging believers to discover a growing intimate relationship
with the Lord
“But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
Acts 6:4
Our Story
Discovery Fellowship is a church plant of Immanuel Community Church here in Fort Collins. It was started with a core group of faithful people from Immanuel as well as other Ministries from the surrounding area. Our immediate
goal was to establish a church in
South-East Fort Collins to minister to the people in that area. Our long range
goal is to establish a body of believers dedicated to reaching those around
us for Christ with an emphasis on connecting with Widows, Orphans, and Single moms both in the local area as well as internationally.
We met in the home of a member of the core group for a year.
Worshiping, praying, and believing in God's calling to reach the people of South
Fort Collins. We experienced some growth and soon began looking for a larger place to meet. We were
commissioned into God's service on January 6th, 2002 and in answer to prayer had our first public service on Sunday, February 3rd, 2002 at the Marriott Hotel.
Experiencing more
growth throughout the next year, we began looking for a permanent home.
Exercising faith once again, we entered into a contract with
Redeemer Lutheran to rent their facility for a year with the intention to buy it. We
had no idea where we would get the money or how God would provide,
but we believed that this was God's will so we followed faithfully.
The next year was an exciting time with many opportunities to practice faith and every time God came through. We completed the purchase of this facility in March of 2004.
Since then, Discovery has continued to grow. We have
been blessed by God in many ways. We've had the opportunity to visit orphanages
in Mexico, financially support missions groups to aid Orphans in
foreign countries, and we support local College Ministries as well. We're only missing one thing... YOU. Please
come join us and let's Discover this great adventure God put before us together!
